Household Chores: Grout Cleaning

By Rick Amorey

For every household problem, there are various homebrew remedies available to anyone who bothers to listen to what the majority says. This seems to be the case even when talking about the seemingly mundane task of grout cleaning. It seems that as long as something needs to be done with regularity, people look for cheap, and apparently effective methods to do the job.

But the truth of the matter is; almost every last one of these homebrew remedies are not really that effective. Let's take the task of cleaning grout, for example. I've been hearing that vinegar is an efficient way of cleaning out grout. I'm sure the acidic properties of vinegar had something to do with that notion, but I'm of the opinion that all vinegar will do is make your bathroom or kitchen smell a lot more sour than normal.

I would not recommend you to use any of these homebrewed remedies. Instead, it's a lot more efficient to clean it the old regular way: It's best o clean by using some detergent and some elbow-grease. Scrub that grout at least once a week, and scrub as often as you can. It'll stop unwanted filth, dirt and hazardous material from seeping into your grout.

What if you weren't too enthusiastic about cleaning the grout, though? You do have better things to do with your time and energy than scrub away at narrow spaces on the floor. What if you're really not able to prevent dirt from settling on the grout? If that's how it goes, then maybe you should consider calling on the professionals to do the job for you.

Professional grout cleaners aren't that hard to locate in this particular scenario. Just go on a search engine on the Internet and you're bound to find a professional or two to help with your problem. They will check on your grout and all you have to do is look and see them work their magic.
